Last week, Metric Theory’s Denver Office put on our Halloween best to volunteer at the Children’s Museum of Denver for their annual Trick-or-Treat Street event. Each year, kids and their parents are encouraged to come dressed in costumes and enjoy a day of parading around the museum, collecting goodies, crafting and playing games.

Old MT-Donald Had a Farm

As volunteers, we were instructed to come dressed as animals. I am certainly not one to shy away from an opportunity to dress up! After some consideration, I decided on a chicken onesie – because why not? I stepped into the office on Friday morning and immediately felt at ease with my costume choice as I spotted my colleagues dressed as unicorns, cows and kangaroos, oh my!

Scares, Sweets & Superheroes

As we arrived at the Children’s Museum on a chilly Friday morning, we were divvied up between craft tables, stroller-check duties and beyond.  I unknowingly volunteered for a rather difficult post – crowd control. It was my duty to tell everyone waiting in line that, although they could see candy heaven beyond my beak, they were not allowed to enter quite yet. I tried to distract them by clucking and flapping my wings, but the kids were more interested in the fun and warmth that awaited them beyond the chicken.

Though tricky, my post ended up being extremely rewarding as the afternoon went on. Tuckered out children began to file out of the museum doors toting full candy bags, covered in fake tattoos, craft-in-hand, and I knew that they had been helped by Metric Theory employees all along the way. They waved goodbye to me with satisfied smiles – or kicking and screaming for more –  and I knew that our time that day was greatly appreciated by the kids, parents and museum staff alike.

Happy Halloween from all of us at Metric Theory!
